There is one definite thing to takeaway from Week 13: Kyler Murray is back. Murray returned on Sunday against the Chicago Bears after missing three games because of a high left ankle sprain and looked like the Murray of old.
The Cardinals’ quarterback was in MVP form once again – scoring a total four touchdowns in a comfortable win against the Bears, 33-22. Sunday was the best the Cardinals have looked after a bye in coach Kliff Kingsbury’s three seasons in Arizona — Josh Weinfuss, ESPN.
According to Sports Illustrated, Kyler Murray still is actually tied for fifth-best MVP odds, despite missing three games. SI Sportsbook has Murray at +1200 odds to win the NFL MVP at the end of the season, trailing only quarterbacks Tom Brady (+250), Josh Allen (+500), Aaron Rodgers (+600) and Patrick Mahomes (+900).
Prior to Sunday, Murray has an 8-1 record as a starter for 2,276 on a 72.7% completion percentage with 17 touchdowns and now 20, after his 4 TD-performance against the Bears. Murray also has rushed for four touchdowns on the ground.
Aside from the numbers and analytics when comes to MVP, a big part of it is also the eye test – when you watch the Cardinals play, Murray is definitely among the best on the field.
The MVP race is going to get dicey, especially with a full loaded NFC. Aside from Arizona, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Green Bay Packers both have cases to be called the NFC’s best team, and their signal callers Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers continue to play like they are the best quarterbacks in football.
