LAFC is on fire.
Fresh off a dominating 2-0 win against Real Salt Lake on the road, LAFC, is defeating everyone in their path whether it’s home or away. They have reached an incredible milestone for being in the MLS for not even two years, becoming the first team in 2019 to clinch a playoff spot.
The Black & Gold host San Jose at the Banc Wednesday, followed by the Galaxy on Sunday, but still overall, have nine games left to play!
Even knowing they’re guaranteed to be vying for the MLS Cup come October, LAFC is still motivated and hasn’t satisfied the desire to win some more this season. While they are inspired, and most likely will win more games, LA will have to be careful in terms of how they utilize their stars.
The eye on the prize now for LA is the playoffs of course, so it will be interesting to see how Head Coach Bob Bradley does with his lineup for the remainder of the season. What are you suppose to do with nine games left of the season after you already made the playoffs?
It would seem to make sense to put your foot off the gas pedal after LAFC’s early playoff birth, but Bob Bradley didn’t exactly agree to just cruising into October.
“There is a desire to win every game. How many games do we have left? Nine games. To win all games that’s our desire,” Bradley told reporters on Tuesday. “And then, playoffs. To win all the playoff games. “And if we lost one? The desire is to respond and then win all the rest of the games after that.”
LAFC is perfect in four meetings with the San Jose Earthquakes, dating back to their 5-0 victory in March, and again 3-1 this June. A third victory in a row this season, could be a difficult task as San Jose’s Matis Alymeda’s team has been improving, and continue to be respectable week after week.
San Jose has staggered a bit without a win in the past three games, and their trip to LA would be a third road game in a row. The Earthquakes will have to be real road warriors against a red-hot LAFC team, especially who plays well at home – 11 wins, (including their scrimmage with Vissel Kobe, 4-1).
How long will Bob Bradley keep his starters in the remaining games of the season, or how long should he?
